November’s art offering from Mrs Summerhouse. It’s a view of the moors of Dallowgill near Nidderdale on the road from Pateley Bridge to Masham, a scene that I have enjoyed and painted many times in many different ways. I love the shapes and the colours that change over the seasons. This picture is watercolour and ink on canvas. I used much stronger, flatter paint to achieve a different effect and bolder lines to accentuate the outlines of the fields.

I’m not an artist, but am a great appreciator. I love this painting for its cheerful mood and originality. It’s like my grandmother’s quilt carelessly tossed over the landscape. Very charming!
Thanks so much for your kind comments
I love your wife’s paintings. I didn’t even know you could watercolour or ink on canvas, but the effect is lovely, and really like the combination of colours and shapes.
Thanks Maddy
