It’s been a while since Mrs summerhouse’s last yoga blog so here’s one in time for Christmas.
It’s getting to the time of year when people are preparing to give and share and enjoy the celebration of Christmas. I try to echo some of the positive feelings in my yoga sessions.
There are many yoga movements, breathing techniques and meditations that can aid and deepen awareness and compassion. I’ve chosen a simple, basic yoga sequence to share, it’s called ‘Full Heart’. It can help focus the mind and balance the breath by drawing attention to the heart centre (Anahata Chakra).
The sequence is a shorter version of the original by Mohini Chatlani who I had the pleasure of meeting many years ago when she shared her vast knowledge of yoga in a very inspirational way while teaching an in-service training day for the British Wheel of Yoga.
When practising the sequence (above) either have a lit candle to focus on or close your eyes. Be open-minded and open-hearted to the calm gentle flow of the practice.
