Recently I had a problem with my lower back on the right hand side. This is unusual for me but when I traced back to what might have caused the problem I discovered it was gardening – bending but then sweeping up all the leaves in an asymmetrical manner. So I needed to ease the pain by doing certain yoga stretches. I share them with you hoping you get the same benefits as I did.

Start by lying flat on the floor, knees bent and feet flat, deep breathing for a few minutes. Follow the sequence 2 / 3 / 4/ 5 and 6 as a slow flowing progression and finish as you started. I did this a few times a day for 3 days and my back pain has gone and my full movements returned.
