I said in a recent retirement blog that, in order to get Mrs Summerhouse motivated with her art, I was setting her an (agreed) target to create one new piece of art every month. I would then publish the picture on this blog. So to prove that all this target setting business works, here is her first creation since we started this plan. Interestingly Mrs SH does not much like what she has created but I, as her number one fan, think it’s great. It is the view directly opposite our barn / vineyard.
This location is at the top end of Nidderdale, overlooking the village of Lofthouse. You can just (only just) see, in the distance on the left hand side of the picture, the aqueduct that carries water from Scar House and Angram reservoirs all the way to Bradford. It is, in our opinion, one of the best views in Yorkshire, maybe even England, and this view was one of the prime reasons we bought the then derelict barn and a bit of land in the first place. We hope you like it.
For the technical it is pastel on canvas and it’s about 2 and a half feet by 4 feet in old money. One day it may even be framed.
