Mrs Summerhouse’s art from Scotland

Posted on November 11, 2016March 31, 2017

This is the canvas and pastel version of Mrs Summerhouse’s earlier watercolour painted while on our Scottish holiday in Dumfries and Galloway. This one created in her studio.

Mrs Summerhouse’s art from Scotland holiday

Posted on October 22, 2016

What with us driving back from Scotland I haven’t had time to write a new blog and Mrs Summerhouse could only offer me this water-colour sketch of the coastline near where we stayed as a stand-in. She will use it later as the basis for a full-scale canvas.

Mrs Summerhouse’s art : Nidderdale retirement blog

Posted on October 9, 2016

More art from our retirement. A different view from Nidderdale. This one is right by the river where we take the pups for their walk when we’re in Pateley Bridge. They like to run in the river, not a problem when it’s low but might be more of a problem in winter when the river…

Mrs Summerhouse’s art back in the Yorkshire Dales

Posted on September 9, 2016

On the road from Pateley Bridge to Grassington in fact and one of my favourite views. It’s the view of the hills from a little village called Hebden. I’ve painted it before at different times of year. This one, as you might guess, is an early autumn picture with a slightly purple tint of the…

Mrs Summerhouse’s art from Derbyshire cottage

Posted on August 5, 2016

Something a bit different this time from Mrs SH. Most of her art work is from the area of Nidderdale or the Yorkshire Dales, mostly around the barn / vineyard. This picture is taken from a photo I took while walking the dogs in a place called Shipley Park described as 700 acres of park…

Mrs Summerhouse’s art from Ireland

Posted on June 10, 2016

A final pictorial reflection on our trip to Ireland last month. Mrs Summerhouse’s version of the view from the cottage we stayed in. This is Innistooskert one of the Blasket Islands I’ve mentioned before. These islands are off  the coast of Kerry, the largest one (Great Blasket, not pictured) is where the islanders lived until…

Mrs Summerhouse’s art : Rosedale Abbey minus the abbey

Posted on May 6, 2016May 5, 2016

This area is called Rosedale abbey although when we enquired where the abbey was we were told there wasn’t one. Probably at some point in the past there was one. Maybe. It’s in a different part of North Yorkshire from Mrs Summerhouse’s usual stomping ground near the barn but one we are fond of and…

Mrs Summerhouse’s art : the barn in summer

Posted on March 4, 2016

This picture was taken from a photograph of the barn before we planted the vineyard. It was taken in the summer, given that today has been snowing, sleeting and raining we thought maybe it would brighten things up a bit. It is the picture Mrs Summerhouse has been working on this month. It’s pastel on…

Mrs Summerhouse’s February art

Posted on February 5, 2016

She promised a misty picture and here it is. It’s taken from the photo on my blog of images from our pup walks, early morning this one. She found it difficult to capture the mist and I don’t think she’s entirely happy with the result. As always I think it is pretty special. Hope…

Mrs Summerhouse January art

Posted on January 5, 2016January 3, 2016

We had to look to the back catalogue for this picture, Mrs SH has been too busy with the festivities to sit down and create a new image for this month and nor have I had time to write a blog. This is a wintry view of sky and snow-covered fields in Nidderdale in the Yorkshire…
